On Thursday, June 14, 2007, Oldham County and La Grange Police Departments arrest five people in an undercover drug sting near exit 14 off Interstate 71, where the suspects attempted to buy cocaine, police said.

Officers seized approximately $24,000 cash, a GMC pickup truck and a Mitsubishi Diamante.

Arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance were Wilford Dwayne Evans, 27, of Lexington; Vernon A. Mullins, 72, of McRoberts, Ky.; James Robert Barnett III, 28, of Hazard, Ky.; and Tina M. Evans, 31, of Clarksville, Ind.    Andrae Lavelle Brooks, 28, of Lexington was cited and released.

Mullins and Barnett were released after posting a $5,000 bond while Wilford Dwayne Evans and Tina M. Evans remain in custody at the Oldham County Jail
