Fatal Traffic Collision

Friday, November 23, 2007, Oldham County Police investigated a fatal traffic collision on I 71 just north of exit 18.  Police were notified at 7:56 PM of a collision involving a passenger car and a semi.  Witnesses told police they observed a Ford Focus, operated by Jordan Haberthy, 18, LaGrange, strike a deer.  The vehicle then traveled from the left lane into the right lane in the path of a tractor trailer.  The tractor trailer, operated by Henri Pilon, struck the passenger side of the Focus.  The passenger of the Focus, Megan Lucas, 17, LaGrange, was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.  The driver of the Focus was transport to University Hospital by Stat Care with possibly life-threatening injuries. 

The north bound of Interstate 71was closed down several times while he traveling lane was closed for approximately three hours.
