Thursday, January 15, 2009 at approximately 4:55 pm, Oldham County Police Department received a call of a single vehicle traffic collision on Interstate 71 at the 22 mile marker in LaGrange, Kentucky.  Officers located a 1993 Chevy Caviler, overturned.  The vehicle was traveling south on Interstate 71, left the north edge of the roadway, traveled a short distance, overturned striking a rock embankment in the median.  The driver and one of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle.  None of the occupants were wearing restraint devices.

The driver of the vehicle, Thelma Works, 50 years of age, of Tracy Lane in Carrollton Kentucky was ejected and transported to University of Louisville Hospital.  Passenger Robert J. Parker, 22 years of age, of the 1100 block of Marmotte Road in Brooksville, Florida was transported with minor injuries.  A second passenger, Melinda J. Neal, 50 years of age, of the 100 block of 7^th Street Carrolton Kentucky in the vehicle was also ejected, and transported to University of Louisville Hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

According to the driver she had dropped her cell phone, reached down to pick it up and lost control of her vehicle.
