On Thursday, April 02, 2009, Oldham County Police were contacted by a corporate investigative agency about a store in Crestwood possibly selling counterfeit products. The agency had received a complaint that “The Brick House”, 5800 block of HWY 22, was selling counterfeit items from Coach, Chanel, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, and other name brands. An investigator for the company was able to purchase a purse from the store bearing a counterfeit “Coach” label. Subsequent search of the store revealed over 1300 items determined to be counterfeit. These counterfeit items included purses, shoes, wallets, watches, and other fashion items. The items recovered from the store had a retail value in excess of $40,000. The value of the products, had they been genuine, would have been over $250,000. Stacey Hayes, age 39, of Louisville, was charged with Counterfeiting Intellectual Property, for offering the items for sale in her store. |
