OLDHAM COUNTY POLICE PRESS RELEASE

FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION ON INTERSTATE 71 IN OLDHAM COUNTY 

On 9-14-09, about 9:48 A.M., Oldham County Police were notified of an injury accident, involving a rescue, on Interstate 71 near the 12 mile marker Southbound.  Oldham County Police, Oldham County EMS, and South Oldham Fire Department each responded to the scene.  When units arrived on scene, they found a single vehicle collision with one male subject pinned in the vehicle.  That subject was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Oldham County Coroners Office.  A witness told police that traffic was backed up, due to construction near the 11 mile marker Southbound.  They also told police that the vehicle driven by the victim, swerved to the left, to avoid striking slowed/stopped traffic in front of him.  The vehicle then struck a rock wall and a tree coming to rest.  The victim was in a rollback wrecker that had two wrecked vehicles on it.  The impact caused the two vehicles to shift forward, crushing the operator of the wrecker.  At this time, the name of the driver has not been released.
