OLDHAM COUNTY POLICE PRESS RELEASE
On May 3rd 2010 at approximately 11:00 hours, police were dispatched to the 7400 block of HWY 524 in Westport on a male subject threatening suicide.
The male subjects step mother, Grace Jared, called 911 and stated that her step son, Andrew Jared, age 24, called her and stated that he had a gun and that he was on his way to her residence to shoot her and then shoot himself. While officers were enroute to the scene, Mrs. Jared advised dispatch that her step son arrived at her residence with a gun and made entry into the house. Mrs. Jared was able to escape from the residence without being harmed. When officers arrived on the scene, the male subject was located across the street in a neighbors yard armed with a .380 caliber handgun. When officers made contact with the subject, he shot himself with the handgun.
The victim, Andrew Jared, age 24, of Crestwood, Kentucky was pronounced dead at the scene by the Oldham County Coroner.
