OLDHAM COUNTY POLICE PRESS RELEASE

Griffin attends last Merit Board meeting

Wednesday, August 11, 2010, Michael Griffin attends his last Merit Board meeting since serving as Chief for the Oldham County Police Department.  Earlier this year Chief Griffin announced that he would be retiring as Chief of Police September 1, 2010.  Griffin has served as chief of the department since 2003 and is the first to serve under two Judge Executives, according to Lieutenant Colonel Billy Way.

Griffin thanked the Merit Board for the service they provide to the citizens of Oldham County as well as to the police officers which serve the community.  The Merit Board consists of four citizens that live in Oldham County and are selected by the Judge Executive to serve four year terms as volunteers to remove
political influence and provide a fair and equitable merit process for the selection of Oldham County Police candidates and the promotion and discipline of Oldham County Police Officers.

In recognition of the service that the merit board provides to the department and the citizens of Oldham County, Chief Griffin presented each merit member with a collector’s knife plaque bearing the Oldham County Police Badge and inscribed plate.
