Richard Dearborn becomes the 71st officer to take the oath of office as an Oldham County Police Officer.  Richard Dearborn attended University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University, currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering. Since 1995 Richard has been a police officer with the Elizabethtown Police Department in Kentucky, where he has gained years of practical experience investigating crimes within the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Within the first two years of employment with the Elizabethtown Police Department, Richard became a member of the Special Response Team.  He held the title of assistant team leader for the Elizabethtown Special Response Team before accepting employment with the Oldham County Police Department.

In 2000 Richard attended the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM), becoming the second Accident/Crash Reconstructionist for Elizabethtown Police Department.  Richard was also a member of the Elizabethtown Police Honor Guard, awarded the Kentucky’s Governor’s DUI award and a 2008 Meadowview Elementary School Site Based council member. 

Richard is married to Richelle and is the father of Seth, Isaiah, Sydney and Mia.  Richelle is the owner of Turf Tamers landscaping and lawn care in which Richard devotes his time away from law enforcement.  In his spare time Richard enjoys spending time with his family, sports, hunting and fishing.
