Oldham County Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Interstate 71 in Oldham County, on December 01, 2005, at approximately 5:30 PM.  Police received a regarding a single vehicle accident which occurred around the northbound 19 mile marker.  Witnesses advised police that the vehicle was traveling in the passing lane and began to slowly fade off the roadway striking a guardrail.  The vehicle then came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.  The operator, John Mctighe, 56, of Carroll County Kentucky, was unconscious when police arrived.  Mr. Mctighe was transported to Baptist Hospital Northeast by EMS.  The Coroner stated that Mr. Mctighe had a coronary event that caused his death.
