On September 18, 2008 Detective Jimmie Laytham was promoted and accepted a position with the Agency as a shift sergeant.  He will be assigned to supervise the third shift.

Jimmie Laytham is a veteran of the United States Army and spent 3½ years working for the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer before becoming the 34th person to take the oath of office as an Oldham County Police Officer in June of 1996 and the 5th recruit.  He attended and graduated from the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. 

During his tenure with the agency he became an Accident Reconstructionist, served on the Honor Guard, and Special Response Team as an operator and sniper.  His previous work assignments include patrol on all three shifts, assignment to the Traffic Enforcement Unit and the Criminal Investigation Section of the Agency.  He has served as a representative on the Oldham County Police Merit Board, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Patrol Advisory Board, Accident Review Committee and KY Electronic Crimes Task Force.  He has also served on the Accident Review Board as Chairman.  In 2005 and 2006, Jimmie was the recipient of the “Officer of the Year” award.
