POLICE APPOINT SECOND CHAPLAIN

May 19, 2005, Judge Executive Mary Ellen Kinser appointed John L. Kennedy to serve as the second Police Chaplain for the Oldham County Police Department.

A native of Louisville Kentucky, Reverend Kennedy received a Master of Divinity Degree from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2001.

Reverend Kennedy served from 1985 to 1997 as an Austin Police Officer, in Austin Texas.  While employed with the Austin Police Department he served with the Honor Guard, as a Crime Scene Photographer, Field Training Officer, Tactical Entry Team Member, Clandestine Lab Response Team, Special Investigations Division Major Crime Unit and a Narcotics Investigator.  In 1990, 1991 and 1993 he was the Austin Police Officer of the Year. 

Currently Reverend Kennedy serves as Pastor for Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and is a resident of Oldham County.  He is married, has one son and two daughters.
