The Oldham County Police Department has started a new initiative to locate and verify the address of convicted sex offenders. Patrol Officers supported by the Detective Division will be going door to door to authenticate and confirm individual addresses with a statutory requirement to do so. Officers will also be checking individual’s proximity to schools and daycares which may be prohibited by law. Officers and Detectives will be talking to neighbors, checking driver’s license, car registration… to determine if individuals are meeting their legislative requirements and or responsibilities to register. Those persons found in non-compliance with their registration requirements will have a class D Felony complaint filed against them which can carry up to five years in prison. The Oldham County Police Department in the past has investigated Non- Registered Sex Offenders on a call by call basis. This is a proactive step to ensure persons are living up to their governmental responsibility and to provide the citizens of Oldham County with an additional layer of protection and service. This initiative was inspired by Louisville Metro Police Department new program to locate and verify their registered sex offenders. Oldham County Police will be working with Probation and Parole, Kentucky State Police, and other law enforcement agencies in this mission. If you have any information or concerns about a possible un-registered sex offender please contact the Oldham County Police Department at 502-222-1300. |
