Thursday, July 21, 2005, at 9:30 PM, Oldham County Police responded to a shooting incident in the 3600 block of Smith Lane. Police discovered William Stearns, age 44, had been shot once in the abdomen by a business associate while standing near a tractor trailer which he was unloading. Stearns was transported to University Hospital by Stat Flight where he remains with a non-threatening wound. Timothy A. Bachman, age 45, a resident of Bedford, Kentucky, was arrested by Oldham County Police at the intersection of KY 53 and US 42 after contacting police by cell phone. Bachman has been charged with two counts of Wanton Endangerment, Assault First Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Police later located the vehicle that Bachman was operating at the time of the shooting and continue to search for a .223 caliber weapon.
