Press Release


A number of burglaries and a robbery have occurred in Oldham County along the Hwy 42 corridor and Westport area between May and August of 2007.  Through investigative efforts and cooperation with several federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, Oldham County Police Detectives discovered the persons responsible for these crimes.  These crimes include a robbery and eight burglaries.  The persons responsible for these crimes in Oldham County are Gerald D. Weddle and Cynthia K. Long.  A small amount of property has been recovered and efforts continue to recover additional property which was stolen.  Property stolen in these burglaries includes firearms, jewelry, electronics, horse saddles, and lawn equipment.  The total value of property stolen exceeds $150,000.00.   

On September 27, 2007, Gerald D. Weddle was indicted by the Oldham County Grand Jury on the following felony charges: 

  • Robbery 1st   (1 count)
  • Burglary 1st   (4 counts)
  • Burglary 2nd  (2 counts)
  • Burglary 3rd   (2 counts)

On September 27, 2007, Cynthia K. Long was indicted by the Oldham County Grand Jury on the following felony charges: 

  • Robbery 1st  (1 count)
  • Burglary 1st  (2 counts)
  • Burglary 2nd  (1 count)

The robbery both defendants are charged with includes the most recent incident in Oldham County where Weddle attempted to steal two generators in the Westport area and threatened the homeowner with a firearm, Long as participated in this robbery. 

Both Weddle and Long are facing numerous other charges in Indiana and Kentucky for similar offenses.
